Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a list of the most commonly asked questions that the Baron receives. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions that you have if you don't see them answered here. Your questions may even get added to the list!

Will you be offering Paydirt in Different sizes?

Yes! The Baron is in the process of expanding his store inventory. He plans to add bags with higher quantities of guaranteed gold (and larger nugget sizes!).

Where is the gold from?

The Baron sources the majority of his gold from the Yukon in Canada and along the Yukon River in Alaska.

Small quantities of the gold may also be from Washington and/or Oregon.

What is the gold purity?

The Yukon has some of the widest purity ranges in the world. Gold in this region can vary in purity from 65% to 95% and often contains copper and/or silver. Most of the gold that you will find in the Gold Baron's paydirt is in the 70% to 85% purity range.

Fun Fact: Higher purity nuggets are most often found in the southern hemisphere.

Why isn't all of the gold Shiny?

When gold travels down streams and creeks, it tumbles in the current and hits rocks. Over time, this can dull the color of the gold, but it does not affect its purity.

The gold can be cleaned to increase its shine, but the process is often impractical for the smaller flakes. The baron loves finding shiny gold, so he often adds larger, cleaned nuggets into his paydirt bags.
